Apple’s New Siri App Features Auto-Delete Conversations and Gemini Model Integration

Last night, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman revealed more details about Apple’s upcoming standalone Siri app in the latest Power On newsletter.

Privacy design is one of the core selling points of this new app. Gurman disclosed that the app will include an auto-delete feature for conversations, allowing users to choose how long to retain conversations: 30 days, 1 year, or permanently. Apple is expected to continue emphasizing privacy protection at this year’s WWDC and highlight that its AI experience is ad-free.

In terms of models, Apple has significantly replaced the underlying AI model of the new Siri with Google’s Gemini and is running some services on Google’s cloud infrastructure. Previously, there were reports of a rift between Apple and its original partner OpenAI, with potential legal disputes arising because OpenAI felt the collaboration did not meet expectations.

Notably, despite the new AI Siri being delayed for about two years, Gurman stated that the internal testing version is still labeled as “Beta” and may continue to be used until its official release.

arXiv Introduces New Rules to Ban AI Spam

Recently, the preprint academic paper platform arXiv announced that if an author’s submitted paper contains undeniable evidence of AI-generated content, their account will be banned for one year, and all future submissions must first be accepted by a peer-reviewed journal before being uploaded.

Thomas Dietterich, chair of the computer science section at arXiv, stated on X that if a paper contains signs of “hallucinated citations” or large language model meta-comments (e.g., “Here is a 200-word summary, does it need modification?”), it can be determined that the author did not verify the AI-generated content.

Currently managed by Cornell Tech, arXiv will operate independently as a non-profit organization starting in July this year. Cornell Tech Dean Greg Morrisett stated that after independence, arXiv will be able to receive funding from a broader range of donors to address the operational pressures caused by “AI spam content.”

Tesla Robotaxi Collision Report Unsealed

Recently, Tesla officially decrypted and released the complete, unredacted report submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) regarding 17 “Robotaxi” autonomous driving collision incidents.

According to Electrek, these 17 incidents occurred between July 2025 and March 2026, all involving the testing of the 2026 Model Y in Austin, Texas, with safety personnel present during testing.

Injury data indicates that the overall incidents were relatively minor: 13 resulted only in property damage, 2 had no injuries, 1 involved minor injuries without hospitalization, and another involved minor injuries requiring hospitalization (the vehicle was rear-ended by an SUV while crawling at 2 mph at an intersection).

The official report indicates that most incidents were not due to Tesla’s autonomous driving system (ADS) but rather involved human drivers rear-ending or side-scraping stationary vehicles at traffic lights, stop signs, or during traffic congestion.

However, the data also revealed flaws in the system and backend interventions:

Two incidents occurred during remote operator takeover, resulting in the vehicles colliding with metal barriers and construction obstacles at speeds of 8 and 9 mph, respectively; several other incidents showed that the ADS had spatial perception blind spots, leading to collisions with metal chains, trailer hitches, wooden utility poles, and curbs while turning or reversing.

When users ask questions, the model can directly retrieve billing history, identify categories prone to overspending, and provide specific reduction plans.

Additionally, users can inform ChatGPT of off-the-books information, such as “I’m saving for a car” or “I owe my parents some money,” and the system will save this content as financial memory for future conversations.

ByteDance Open Sources Cola DLM

ByteDance’s Seed team recently open-sourced the diffusion text generation model Cola DLM. Unlike mainstream large models that generate text token by token from left to right, this model first “thinks through the main idea” in a continuous semantic space before converting it back into specific text.

Technically, Cola DLM consists of Text VAE and block-causal DiT. Text VAE compresses text into a continuous latent space, and DiT learns semantic distribution within that space through Flow Matching, with the decoder then restoring the text. Diffusion denoising occurs at the semantic level rather than the token level.

The open-source version has approximately 2.3B parameters and, according to the paper, achieved an average score exceeding baseline models AR and LLaDA in eight evaluations, including LAMBADA, MMLU, and HellaSwag.
